Our interest in the Stanwood barn began from the stand point of it being a “deconstruction” project, led by Dave Bennink of Re-Use Consulting. The buildings that he carefully dismantles across the nation are typically rich with history and deep personal meaning. However, the depth of history and meaning in this particular case was astounding – and absorbing.
This film was completed over the course of 3 years, involving two dozen interviews (amounting to 26 hours of footage), hundreds of hours of research at the Stanwood Camano News, Stanwood Public Library, and the Stilliguamish Genealogical Society, and many more hours of editing (including roughly 90 minutes of material cut from the finished film).
